The following is an account of what I have learned about treatment of dying patients. Very far from being an expert, I share here with those who may be interested my experience with my mother during her last ten days and nights which we spent together in the hospital. I also relate bits of information I found on the web about rullings of Halacha on this issue. My mother Zipporah expressed on many occasions through the years her deep reservation from the use of respiration machine on dying patients who are very old and hopelessly ill. Thankfully, my mother was spared of such predicament. She passed away peacefully, her mind clear till her last day. But, when we were at the hospital the last time, we both were very much concerned about this question . to be continued ... |
המידע שלהלן מיועד למי שמעוניין בשאלה של הארכת חיים של חולה אנוש, מה מקובל בבתי חולים, באיזו מידה הדבר תלוי ברצון החולה או נציגיו, וכן מהי גישת ההלכה אני רחוק מלהיות מומחה בנושא זה, וכל ידיעתי מבוססת על עשרת הימים והלילות האחרונים בחיי אימי שבהם שהינו יחד בבית חולים וכמה דיונים תורניים ופסיקות הלכה שמצאתי ברשת אמי צפורה הביעה כמה וכמה פעמים, לאורך שנים רבות, הסתייגות עמוקה מחיבור למכונת הנשמה של חולים ישישים או חסרי תקווה הנוטים למות תודה לאל, הנושא לא הגיע לידי מבחן במקרה שלה. אימי נפטרה בשלווה, דעתה צלולה עד ליומה האחרון. אבל בעת שהותנו בבית החולים בפעם האחרונה, הנושא העסיק את שנינו מאוד ... המשך יבוא |
